Cretan Folklore Night

There is a special place in Crete where the past meets the present.
When an idea becomes reality, when a dream becomes reality, then nature and man join forces. A little taste and some stones from the White Mountains were enough to create a multipurpose area, where we meet even today. Its name <<KOUMOS>> in other words the house of Sheppard in the mountainous villages of Crete. Enlarging its interior, you will discover the small stone church of Saint Lydia of the Philippines and a museum area. Within this, you will find artifacts from World War II as well as traditional tools from the earlier Crete. The perfect way to end a day like that would be nothing less than a traditional Cretan night!

The Cretan musical tradition is considered to be the most “alive” of those found in Greece. Not only does it continue to evolve through the absorption of creative contemporary musical elements, but at the same time it manages to express and comment on modern realities and life’s challenges. It will soon become apparent that the character of Crete and Cretans is reflected in music and dance. This is one of the few places in Greece where traditional musical heritage grows, rather than remaining static or withering.

We will end up at a graphic amphitheater where we will be welcomed with local traditional raki (tsikoudia) and the sound of lyre, lute and mandolin. The Cretan music will be accompanied by Cretan dances. The night will close with a traditional dinner including a variety of dishes and traditional wine as much as you can drink. A trip to the island of Crete is not complete without a traditional Cretan evening.
